Pooh’s Pets honors the Memory of Animal Advocate Wendy “The Pooh” Painter

Wendy Painter

Wendy “The Pooh “Painter was an advocate for the overall well-being and safety of our four-legged friends. In her memory, a not-for-profit sponsorship has been created to further her dream to support safe shelters for dogs, cats and other companion animals in our municipal shelters. The sponsorship has been aptly named “Pooh’s Pets” in her honor. The sponsorship’s mission is to support the efforts of the safe shelters and encourage the placement of these animals into loving forever homes.

It is estimated as many as 3.7 million companion animals were euthanized in American ‘shelters’ in 2008 alone.  With only 25% of dogs and 24% of cats in the US being adopted yearly, there is a serious need to support safe shelters and provide adoptive homes.

The Haven

The Haven - Friends for life

North Carolina’s largest safe shelter, The Haven, who has  saved over 30,000 animals, is the first beneficiary of Pooh’s Pets outreach.  With Wendy’s dream to start a safe shelter, this was a perfect opportunity to fulfill a piece of her dream by supporting The Havens’ needs. The Haven was in desperate need for double septic system.  After hearing about their dilemma, Pooh’s Pets donated the funds to purchase and install the double septic tank the shelter needed to pass inspection.

Pooh’s Pets will continue their concerted effort in caring for animals in need and supporting safe shelters.
